Spanish Midfielder Cesc Fabregas Signs with PUMA
Sportlifestyle company PUMA says it has signed a long-term partnership with Spanish international midfielder Cesc Fabregas, the Barcelona midfielder signing a multi-year contract with PUMA.
Cesc (pictured above) will wear PUMA boots on pitch and will become another key performance icon in the sportlifestyle brand’s global football communication.

In Prada’s Spring-Summer 2012 Collection, Shoes With Tailfins
Decades ago, Converse advertised its Chuck Taylor sneakers as “limousines for the feet.” Nike designed its Air Jordan 14 basketball shoes after Michael Jordan‘s favorite Ferrari years before Ferrari produced shoes with Puma.
Yes, shoes are cars, but no one has made that point quite like Miuccia Prada, the heiress to the Milanese fashion house that bears her name, with her spring-summer 2012 collection of footwear inspired by the tailfins and flame paint jobs of midcentury automobiles.
The bright red and green shoes are accented with chrome and conical taillights worthy of Chrysler’s Forward Look. The outlines of classic hot-rod flame forms surmount high heels.
The shoes are only part of a wider collection of auto-inspired clothing and accessories, seen in a series of advertisements shot by the fashion photographer, Steven Meisel.
The scene in an ad is an old gas station, sketched out in Prada’s publicity copy: “Bathed in sunlight. Fueled by optimism. Girls and cars stop and stare at the future in this Technicolor mise-en-scéne of desire.”
Holding bags decorated with graphics of tumbling dice and flame accents, the models are interspersed with ’50s cars, mostly custom, including a few Chevy Bel-Airs. The Prada campaign speaks of a world bathed in optimism, if not a negligible helping of kitsch.

St. Francis student shoes the shoeless
St. Francis High School junior Shawn Esmaili discovered his compassion for those less fortunate when he visited an orphanage in Asia when he was 12 years old.
After speaking with one of the orphans, “I sensed the vision he had. I sensed he wanted to be someone really successful and he was really gifted,” Esmaili said. “I realized just how much I had and how little he had.”
Since then, Esmaili has dedicated himself to providing resources to those in need of assistance and encourages his peers to do the same. He manages his own non-profit organization, Youth Against Poverty.
Esmaili worked in Haiti last summer, helping an orphanage collect shoes for its children. Through chance connections, he learned of K2 Adventures Foundation and its goal of providing shoes for orphans in Mwereni Integrated School for the Blind in Moshi, Tanzania. Because of the composition of the soil, the children suffer from foot fungus, which causes their feet to swell. The simple solution of wearing shoes could prevent the problem, but there were no shoes to wear – until Esmaili stepped in.
His parents work in the shoe industry and connected him with representatives from Adidas, Converse, Reebok, Puma and Vans. He convinced the sport-shoe companies to donate a total of 700 pairs of shoes for the 600 blind orphans.
K2 Adventures Foundation recently presented its Humanitarian Award to Esmaili for his work in securing the shoes for the African children.
“I want to help those in need,” he said. “I don’t want to take things for granted.”
Esmaili currently partners with K2 Adventures Foundation and Global Family Philanthropy, also non-profit groups, to provide resources where lacking around the world. In addition to his work with other organizations, he runs a pop-up shop in Arizona selling shoes to raise money for the medical facility in Haiti, which he visited with the Global Family Philanthropy. Shoe sales have already realized nearly $22,000 of his goal of $25,000 to purchase medical supplies for the Haitian facility.
Because of the success of the pop-up shop, Esmaili is looking for a location in Los Altos to run a similar shop to raise funds for a future philanthropic goal.
He is also committed to sparking the joy of philanthropy in other local students.
“We are the next generation and we can make a difference,” he said. “I want to change others’ outlook on life and how they give to others. I know it isn’t easy to convince people my age to go to Haiti, but I want them to be informed and spread awareness.”
Youth Against Poverty’s mission is to link teens with established groups committed to helping the poor and disadvantaged. He said his passion to serve others runs deep and he would like to make that his life’s focus.

Puma Faas 300
Question #1 From 60-Year-Old Runner Still Banging Out 55-65 Miles Per Week And Is Looking For Shoe That Has A Narrow Heel, Wide Forefoot, Good Cushioning And Is Affordable
"tooslow" asks: I am 60 year old runner that is much slower than I was 30 years ago. Still run 55/65 miles a week about half flat paved and the other very hill fire roads. I have a very narrow foot and look for a narrow heel with good support. What do you recommend that has a narrow heel, good support but with good cushion, wide forefoot for off road and added might as well make it cheap because I buy 5 or 6 pairs a year. I also with some models get a forefoot slap. Last pair of Pumas I had was in 1980.
Puma answers: Hi tooslow, the FAAS 300 is a perfect shoe for someone with a narrow heal and wide forefoot. We based the last (internal shape of the shoe) on one that we built for the Japan market for these exact specifications. "agreen" asks: I am a long time wearer of Asics and Brooks shoes; however, the Puma Faas line sounds unique and has caught me interest. I would like to give the shoes a try, but am unsure of the appropriate shoe for me. I have a flat arch and need a good support shoe; however, most stability shoes are too rigid and make my feet and ankles sore. Additionally, any shoe with a high arch tends to irritate my feet. I am looking for a lightweight training/racing shoe that provides a decent amount of support, but still has a fair amount of flexibility. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

drawbacks to this kind of construction? Also, is there a reason that the 500 doesn't have more mesh? It can get a little hot in the summer. Finally, have you thought about securing the tongue to the body of the shoe? Mine usually shifts to the outside of the shoe when I run. Thanks!
Puma answers: Hi Justin, FAAS is all about allowing the foot to move naturally. A lot of shoes in the industry over-correct the natural motions of the foot during your gate cycle due to being overbuilt. We designed FAAS with the less-is-more philosophy, thus removing everything you don't need in a shoe and keeping only the things you need for a long comfortable run. Rojo asks: My New Year's resolution is to try to get back into running, so in December I decided buy three pairs of shoes to make me get my butt out the door, hoping that the guilt of having spent money will motivagte me to actually run.
The problem was I found it was very confusing to figure out what was the correct Puma shoe to buy as I couldn't figure out what the difference was between the various Faas shoes as they all are described with a different number instead of name. How is an online buyer supposed to know what Faas is best for them?
Puma Answers: We are working with the online store to better explain the FAAS foam scale. Currently the Faas website is separate from the Puma.com store so the content is different.
